Auwina en Sibilla waren niet getrouwd. Ze woonden samen en ze hadden elkaar beloofd om vrijgezel te blijven en samen te leven. Sibilla heeft Auwina verboden een relatie aan te gaan met een meneer die met haar wilde trouwen op wat latere leeftijd ! Een heel drama destijds. Ze woonden aan de Singel (met een echte plee achter in de tuin) en later in het Van Julsingha tehuis.

Ze liggen ook naast elkaar begraven op de begraafplaats in Delfzijl.
