Obituary: The New Iberian, May 3, 1979
Mrs. Ida Hamacher, 78, of Iberia, died Tuesday, April 17, at a
Jefferson City hospital. A native of St. Elizabeth, Mrs. Hamacher was born
September 24, 1900, a daughter of John and Elizabeth Buechter Volmert. She
was married in March 1923, to Conrad Hake, who died in 1933.
Mrs. Hamacher owned and operated the Iberia Café, at Iberia,
from 1949-1953. She was retired in 1960 as a civil service employee at Fort
Leonard Wood. She was also a member of the St. Cornelius Catholic Church,
Crocker.
Survivors included: two sons, Ambrose Hake, St. Elizabeth, and
Larry Hamacher, Kansas City; one daughter, Mrs. Mary Kellison, Kansas City,
Kansas; two brothers, William Volmert and Frank Volmert, both of St. Louis;
two sisters, Mrs. Lena Kliethermes, Meta, and Mrs. Mary Evers, Iberia; eight
grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
The rosary was recited at 8 p.m. Thursday, April 19, at the
Stevinson Funeral Home, Iberia. Services were held at 10 a.m. Friday, at
Our Lady of Snows Catholic Church, Marys Home, with the Rev. Pender and the
Rev. Antwiler officiating. Burial was in the Marys Home Cemetery under the
direction of Stevinson Funeral Home.
