Hij is getrouwd met Francesca Catharina Hake.
Zij zijn getrouwd op 14 januari 1873 te St. Elizabeth, Miller County, Missouri, hij was toen 31 jaar oud.
Herman Boeckman was best man for John Paul's first marriage.John Paul's 1st marriage was to Margaretha Sanecke in 1872. She died within
this first year most probably as he was again married on Jan 14, 1873 to his
second wife, ANna Catherine Hake. Witnesses to this 1st marriage were Herman
Boeckman and Theresa Sanecke, most probably a sister to Margaretha. All the
above information was brought forth from my cousin, Marjorie Berg from St.

John came from Germany to the US in 1867. Cold black hair and dark eyes are traits of the Beutel family. John wassaid to haveepileptic seizures, although there is some dispute of thisfact. He was very strict and religious man. His brother was a priest inGermany. John Paul smoked a pipe and one sunday morning he was ridinghis horse down the hill to water the horse at the spring when he had aseizure. His horse became frightened and threw him. Other versions ofthe story say that the horse became frightened and threw John and then hehad the seizure. His wife Frances, was at church at a Married LadiesSodality meeting that morning. One of the boys ran all the way to townto get her and the doctor, but it was too late! John hemmoraged to deathbecause the pipe he was smoking, while he was riding his horse, wentthrough his throat. He died later in the day from loss of blood. Henry could not read or write English. Brith date is also listed as 26 Jan 1844.(Taken from Berg website)
