: Maria Eva Hamen was born April 28, 1710, in Ruschberg, Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany to parents [[Hamen-5|Hans Michael Hamen]] and [[Schneider-326|Anna Schneider]] who at the time were 33 and 29 years old respectively. : 'Stephen' and 'Maria' immigrated to the New World and had ten children during their marriage. Maria died in Salisbury, North Carolina sometime in 1750 at the age of 40.
: However the death location of Salisbury, North Carolina and Lancaster, PA are in question since there are two memorials, one in each location. The burial in Pennsylvania was at Muddy Creek Lutheran Church Cemetery in Denver, Lancaster County, PA.

:: The family left Philadelphia and went to Lancaster County, Pennsylvania where they had five more children. Michael Braun & family after several years went to the Carolinas (1749). They most likely traveled from Philadelphia down the Old Philadelphia Road, down the Shenandoah Valley to Roanoke. They then traveled "The Carolina Road", which is through the Maggoty Gap to the Carolinas. Originating as the Great Warrior Path of the Iroquois centuries before, the path was frequently used by the Iroquois before being ceded to the whites in 1744 to become one of the most heavily traveled roads in all Colonial America. This old road was located about where Hwy 220 north out of Greensboro toward Roanoke.
