Notes for SIR JAMES SIMEON, BART:
Appropriated the estates of the Heveningham family of Elford. His wife Bridget Heveningham had been dead for about 10 years prior to him claiming the Heveningham estates. His son Edward Simeon states that the only reason Christopher Heveningham did not inherit was because he was a heretic! Christopher was a Catholic Papist but later became a Protestant (probably because it was wise to do so at that time). The Heveningham family had always been Catholic and many of Christopher's ancestors had been fined for Recusancy.
Inherited the personal estate of his mother-in-law, Mary Middlemore.
It was probably Sir James Simeon who demolished the existing Aston Hall and built the late 17th, early 18th century "Queen Anne" style house.
