«i»ntbl Subject: «b»RE: Charles Hicken married Emma Skidmore«/b» Hi Phil, thankyou for your reply. I have some further information that mayclarify the situation. The first marriage for Charles Hicken gives his father as Edward Hicken a Shoe Maker & this led me to think that the parents Frederick Hicken & Eliza Merchant were wrong. I have got the second marriage for Charles & this gives more light that leads me to think the parents are correct & that he was born in Gloucestershire. Married 21 Sep 1919 St James Church, Birmingham. Charles Hicken aged 56yrs a Widower & Sheet Metal Worker living at 2 St Brooks St. Father Frederick Hicken deceased a Shoe Maker. Annie Skidmore aged 43 yrs a widow living at 1 St Brook St Father William Pemberton deceased a Brass Worker. Why he gave his father as Edward for his first marriage is a mystery. I have Charles in the 1891 census with his parents who match the parents Frederick & Eliza. He is in the 1891 census at the Sherlock home with his brother Frederick & sister in law Mary Ann Sherlock who has just married his brother Samuel. I am confident that the Gloucestershire line is correct. Thankyou for your help in helping me to see a clearer picture. Kindest regards, Ken. PS I will amend the notes I left on the family trees in Ancestry.
