Hi, I see you have listed the BIRD's of Whittington on your ancestral tree. Dianah/Dinah BIRD who married Charles THOMAS is my GG Grandmother. Samuel BIRD who married Jane HARDING is my GGG Grandfather. I have Samuel BIRD's parents as Sampson BIRD and Dianah/Dinah SHIPLEY. I notice you have something different. Samuel, who married my direct, Jane HARDING, married Jane's sister, Hannah HARDING,for his second marriage. I'm not sure your connection with the BIRD's, but am glad to share info if you are interested. My email is (XXXXX@XXXX.XXX) and my name is Dian Arduini.
Samuel moved to Northumberland where later, he comitted suicide.
My partner Chris Bird actually emailed you a few weeks back but i had all the information and he didn't have much to ask you.cifically a Samuel Bird and his father also Samuel or Sampson Bird. Harding (1822-1857). A couple of people i have spoken to who have either been researching the Bird line or members of the same family have told me these women were sisters. So far i haven't been able to confirm this. Samuel and his Daugher Dinah (married name Thomas) with her family and also his son William moved up to the Newcastle area where Samuel died by committing suicide in 1885.sp;Samuel's father also called Samuel or Sampson (not sure which is the correct name) was married to a Dinah Shipley. He was born in Streethay if census details are correct and IGI states a baptism date of 11th april 1778. There is a record for a burial on 1 may 1864 in St Giles,Whittington. Do you think the grave might still be there?
the area if there is the possibility that information is surviving down there but as we would be coming from Newcastle Upon Tyne we haven't got any access to local records to double check anything.i was researching in Newcastle leads back to Whittington and Samuel, his daughter Dinah married to Charles Thomas and his son (with Hannah) William all ended up just outside of the centre of Newcastle Upon Tyne. In fact Samuel seems to get about, he is shown in the household of his son Charles in the 1881 census,in Haberingham Eaves in Lancashire. I am assuming this must have been a visit though,as noted in the inquest into his suicide his son in Law Charles Thomas claims Samuel has lived with him and his wife for over ten years. We will try to make a visit to the area to trace the older members of the family tree and do a graveyard search
