Judith Tue was born in Wormingford, Essex, England, and baptised at St. Andrew's Church there on May 31, 1589. Her parents were John and Cicely Tue. On January 11, 1607, she married William Knapp in that same church. William was the son of Thomas and Alice Howlatt Knapp. William and Judith had four children born in Wormingford, then three more, two born in Bures St. Mary, one in Wormingford. Evidently, the family was moving back and forth between Wormingford and Bures St. Mary.
In 1630 William and Judith sailed for America. William was granted seven parcels of land in Watertown, Middlesex, Massachusetts, where they settled. William was indebted to Richard Saltonstall for the family's passage, and was having a hard time paying off the debt. William was also frequently in minor trouble, for swearing, speaking against the governor or selling beer without a license. Judith died about 1649, because William entered into a prenuptual agreement with widow Priscilla Aker in 1650. It is not known where Judith is buried, but the only cemetery in use in Watertown in 1649 was The Old Burying Place, which was laid out in 1642. That is where she is probably buried, although there is no stone extant for her.
