Branko Mladenovic was the son of Mladen, deputy to Stefan Dusan, tsar of Serbia, and Serbian governor of Zahumlje from 1324 to 1326. Branko ruled a principality in western Macedonia, probably including Ochrid. His title of Sebastokrator ('venerable ruler') was essentially a meaningless title signifying only a close relationship with the emperor of Byzantium. Virtually all that is otherwise known about him is that he died in 1398, of poisoning by Sultan Bayazeth. He and his unnamed wife had four children of whom a son Vuk Brankovic would have progeny.
