Glynn, 76, of Alexandria, passed away Thursday, August 8, 2013 at his residence. He was preceded in death by his parents, Prentiss Lamar Scarborough and Odile Thiels Scarborough Welch, his father-in-law and mentor, Joseph Vaughn Sr. and mother-in-law, Rosa Praet Vaughn.
He is survived by his wife, Alice Vaughn Scarborough, his son, (and best friend), Glynn Lamar Scarborough, Jr., (Kolette), and daughter, Susan Scarborough Poff, (Bobby). He is also survived by the following grandchildren that he dearly loved, Christopher DeKeyzer, (Ashley), Mandy, Micki and Melissa Scarborough, Justin DeKeyzer, (Julie), Lesley McCroskey, (Kenny), and three great-grandchildren, Hunter Joseph DeKeyzer, Rosaley McCroskey and Deklyn Lamar DeKeyzer. Others include two brothers, Ronnie Welch, (Ginger), Donnie Welch, (Diane), and two sisters, Peggy Irby, (A. C.), and Brenda Gremillion, (Wayne).
Glynn was a perfectionist in his ornamental iron work and was well known for his superior craftsmanship. He leaves many examples of this ironwork all over the Central Louisiana area, as well as throughout the rest of the state, Mississippi and Texas. He had a passion for cooking and was recognized for his innovative methods. He was a true sportsman, an avid hunter and fisherman, but was not really concerned with the kill or the catch, it was enough for him to be outdoors enjoying the woods or the lake and the company of friends and family back at the camp.
The family requests that memorials be made to Kent Plantation House where he enjoyed many, many "volunteer" hours.
A special thanks to Dr. Abi, Beverly and all the staff at HOLC, to
Tessa at Rapides Regional Hospital and to Barbara of OASIS, for their compassion and care. We will never forget.
