Robert, the fifth son, was born in 1786 at Levisham was also a farmer. He married Elizabeth JACKSON at Pickering, his only wife and they had 8 children. The first 7 of these were born at Old Malton and the youngest at Upleatham, population 239 around the time the family settled there. In 1840 Robert paid one hundred and ten pounds in rent. arrears– nil. In 1841 he paid two hundred and twenty pounds in rent paid half-yearly. Robert farmed “Corngrave” farm and on the 1851 Census it consisted of 225 acres and he employed 5labourers. This farm, probably on a lease arrangement stayed in the family from the 1820s to the 1880s. By 1881 his second son Richard was farming “Corngrave”and it was now 148 acres and he employed 3 labourers. Robert died in 1851 and was buried from St Mary’s Church, Old Malton. In 1984 “Corngrave Farm” was still operating and was visited by a descendent of Richard.
