Notities over Hendrik Jansz Vuurens

Hendrik was born around 1678 in Jaarsveld. His family was originally from Willige Langerak, but in 1672 (disaster year in Dutch history) the dikes in Willige Langerak were purposely breached in 3 places to slow the progress of the invading French army. Willige Langerak was flooded and his family moved to Jaarsveld, where he was born. People moved back into the Willige Langerak area in the beginning of the eighteenth century and Hendrik appears to have been one of them. He moved to Willige Langerak in 1704.

Hendrik was confirmed by the Dutch Reformed Church in Jaarsveld in 1702, together with "Wiilempje arijns zijn E.V.", his wife (Source DTB: Dutch reformed Jaarsveld Chuch Membership Lists)

Hendrik Vuurens was working for the court of Willige Langerak in particular in handling cases where a person was either not willing or able to pay his debts (Gerechtsbode, Deurwaarder in modern Dutch). As such many properties in Willige Langerak passed through his hands. There are many records in the archives regarding purchases and sales of land.

12 juli 1704. Property of Heyndrik Jansz Vuren: Heyndrik Hoek, living in Willige Langrak, declares that he transfers to Heyndrik Janse Vuren, living in Jaarsveld, a house, barn and outbuildings in Willige Langerak located next to the land of the city of Schoonhoven near the church, abutting de dijksloot from de Hogendijk ending near. de Tiendeweg for f 790,- (There was a f400 mortgage remaining on the house).

Aug 1710, Pieter van Dongen living in Jaarsveld, renter, pays Hendrik Vuurens living in Willige Langerak
520 guilders for the mill of Jaarsveld village for the period of Aug 1710 to July 1711. Same amount is paid for the use of the Mill at Bergambacht and Ammerstol.

On August 29, 1715 Hendrik bought 12 "morgen" of land, dijkslag no. 286 near the city of Schoonhoven. He stayed owner of this land until 1739. After his death his widow owned the same land until about 1749.

2 Aug 1720.Mr Huysman, bailiff, who has power of attorney from the council of Schoonhoven transfers to Hendrik Vurens in Willige Langerak 14 morgen and 3 hont land with riverside uiterwaarden as 2 seprate properties in Willige Langerak.
1st. 11 morgen with uitterwaert, containing a house, barn and outbuildings belonging to the seller from the end of the halversloot to the loacation of the honorable lady van Reinesteyn in Willige Langerak. North of the Halver Caay wetering in Seventer, abutted in the east by the children of Bartolomeus Faay and to the west 't gasthuis (an Inn) of Schoonhoven.
2nd. 3 morgen and 3 hont near the Waal, coming from the Lek northwest up to the broeyk, abutting on the East the honorable Lady of Willige Langerak.and on the west to Abram v.Ameyden.for f 3000,-

On 5 mar 1724 Hendrik gives eternal rental rights to Aert and Bastiaan Alblas and Willem Cooijman, brothers and in-laws from Willige Langerak for a house and yard of about 25 roede in Willige Langerak near Waal east of honorable Lady of Willige Langerak and west of the road from the Tiendeweg, North of the Tiendeweg and south of the griend of Hendrik Vurens for f2 per year.

5 Mar 1724. Hans Gerrie Loost of Willige Langerak owes Hendrik Vurens, court servant of Willige Langerak, f 250,- with 4%. interest for a house and land going from the Lek river northwest to the Queldam or dwarssloot.

30 Jun 1729. Mr.Arnoldus Bullick from Schoonhoven, who has power of attorney from Mr. Emanuel Valk living in Haerlem transfers to Hendrik Vurens living in Willige Langerak a manor, house and outbuildings, 16 morgen land with uiterwaard together 20 morgen in size in Willige Langerak. streching from the Lek northwest to the halve broeyk, abutting on the east Mr. Westrenen and on the west the heirs of Mr Doeleman for f2700,-

1 Sep 1729. Mortgage for Hendrik Vurens.
Jan Taleman of Willige Langerak owes to Hendrik Vurens f 200,- at 4% interest for 2 houses and yards in Willige Langerak. The house where Jan Taleman lives abuts in the north to Judocus van Wijngaarden, in the south Hendrik de Wecker. The other house in whcich Arie Oosterom lives, is located where Mr. Taleman lives.

On August 29 1730 Hendrik bought another 16 "morgen" land, dijkslag no. 225 in Willige Langerak from Mr. Hendrick Adriaen van der Mark. He owned this land until 1739.

6 juli 1734. Property of Hendrik Vurens.
Cornelis Janse Vianen and Jan Vermeulen poormasters of Willige Langerak have the house and land of Aart Alblas on which there is a f300 mortgage and several years of interest. Mr. Alblas died in 1733 and his wife and children are taken care of by the poorcouncil. The widow, Jannigje Kooiman, has ordered the sale of the property. It consists of a house, cookhouse, yard, uiterwaard and orchard in Willige Langerak. It streches from the back of the house in the north to the Lek in the south, east of Jacobus van de Wey and west of Elsie Hogendoorn on condition that the widow Jannigje Issacke Hogendoorn is allowed to live her entire life in the cookhoouse without pay. Salesprice fl 410.-

On September 15, 1734 he bought 3.5 "morgen" land, dijslag no.209, in Willige Langerak from Pieter van Straten, which he also owned until 1739.

After the death of Hendrik's widow, on 12 Mar 1749, 3 parcels and houses were sold by the guardians of the minor children.
12 Mar 1749. The guardians of the minor heirs of deceased Willempje borst, widow of Hendrik Vurens, transfer to Pieter van Oostrom, messager of Willige Langerak a certain beautiful, well situated inn, with yard, 11 morgen of pasture, hemp and orchards with an uiterwaard of 2 morgen in Willige Langerak. It is situated east of the widow of Adriaan Faay and west of the city for f2630.

12 Mar 1749. The same guardians transfer to the widow of Cornelis Sliedrecht a house, yard and 5 morgen of orchard and reedland in Willige Langerak with an uitterwaard of 3 hont. East of Jacobus van de Wey and west of Elsje Hogendoorn for f500.

12 Mar 1749. The same guardians transfer to Jan Maurak of Schoonhoven 3 morgen and 3 hont of reedlands in Willige Langerak to the side of the schoolhouse on which 2 rental properties are located. The first for f2 on the house of Willem Kooijman and Bastiaan van der Waal and the other for f1 and 10 nickels receivable from Abraham Kuijt. Salesprice f1000.
