  Renske Polstra was born in 1860 in the country village Lioessens in the former municipality Oostdongeradeel, in the utter northeastern part of the Dutch northern province Friesland, daughter of the 32 years aged truck gardener (gardenier) Jan Tjeerds Polstra and Hiltje Douwes Hiemstra.
  
  The 22 years aged seamstress Renske Polstra married on 7 October 1882 in the village Metslawier, seat of municipality Oostdongeradeel to the two years younger carpenter's hand Klaas Talsma.
  
  Between September 1883 and 1886 they moved to the nearby country village Ferwerd, seat of the municipality Ferwerderadeel.
  
  The family of Klaas and Renske Talsma left on 16 April 1902 their home in Ferwerd for America. Rensche (42 y), her husband Klaas [Nicholas] Tolsma (40 y), their children Jantje (18 y), Jan (16 y), Geert (13 y), Hiltje (9 y) Sietze (7 y), Lieuwe (4 y), and Tjeerd (2 y) arrived on 28 April 1902 on the SS Ryndam at the port of New York, Ellis Island.
  
  She died as Ruske (!) Halsma (!) [transcription errors?] on 24 March 1903, less than a year after their arrival in the USA, in Chicago, 7309 Sangammon St., Ward 32, just northwest of the center, at the age of 43 years. She was buried in Mount Greenwood Cemetery, in the southern part of Chicago.
