"... I think that I have somewhere seen it stated that Mascelina, first wife of the first William de Cantilupe, was a "Coheiress of Montgomery." It is certain that this Mascelina was a daughter of Audulf de Bracy (I), and that the said Audulf left a son and heir Audulf (II).1 It is therefore improbable that Mascelina was an heiress, unless indeed Audulf de Bracy (I) was twice married, and unless the mother of Mascelina and the mother of Audulf (II) were two persons, aud the former an heiress. ...

William de Cantilupe (I) died, at a very great age, on April 7, 1239. His son and heir, William de Cantilupe (II), was more probably his son by Mascelina de Bracy than by any later wife. ..." _______________________________________ Source :

"William I de Cantilupe (d.1239) (anciently Cantelow, Cantelou, Canteloupe, etc, Latinised to de Cantilupo) was an Anglo-Norman baron and royal administrator. ... He died on 7 April 1239 and was buried at Studley Priory, Warwickshire.

Progeny He had married Mazilia (or Marcelin) Braci, who had brought him lands in Kent, and was succeeded by his eldest son William II de Cantilupe(d.1251). His younger son Walter de Cantilupe (d.1266) became Bishop of Worcester, of which see William had had custody in 1208." _______________________________ Source Par Robert William Eyton:

Though at the expense of a considerable digression, I will make that point good at once; for everything that bears on the origin and rise of the great House of Cantilupe is of importance, and, as regards one section of my future history, is essential. The first wife of William de Cantilupe was Mascelina, daughter of the first Audulf de Braci and sister or half-sister of Audulf de Braci, party to the above fine. ..."

Marceline married Sir William I DE CANTILUPE, Baron, Sheriff & Steward [1824] [MRIN: 1031], son of Walter II DE CANTELOUP [2508] and Amice [5023]. (Sir William I DE CANTILUPE, Baron, Sheriff &; Steward [1824] was born about 1159 in Reading, Berkshire, England, died on 7 Apr 1239 in Eatton Bray, Bedfordshire, England and was buried in Studley Priory, Warwickshire, England.)
