Cornelia continued her studies until she was 18 years, and became a kindergarden teacher. She loved dancing and amongst all her friends there was a Marinus Edward Roojakkers, who was a fantasticdancer, as he lived across the road, they often met. After a short period going out they married, which lasted only 3 years.
During her 3 yearmarriage to Marinus Roojakkers he had a genital desease and Cornelia left him in fear that she may get it. Because he was so popular with the ladies in Delft during their marriage.During their marriage and the war Cornelia had a delicatessen business, but this was closed when she seperated from him as it was run from the front room of her home
While during her divorce proceeding she met Willem Steeneveld 1946 and had a son Jacobus Hermanus born in 1947, but this child registered with en error to the wrong father Roojakers, not Willem Cornelis Steeneveld. It took manay years for the Dutch government to rectify this error and reissued another Birth Certicate with the correct details that Willem was the biological father of Jacobus. Cornelia became a qualified hair dresser whilst living with her sister Johanna Besemer and husband Pieter Van Zelst.
Cornelia and Willem migrated to Australia on the Johan Van Olderbaarneveld, this was to take six weeks. On arrival in Sydney they were taken to a migrant camp named Skyville, this was in the regional area and consisted of a 2 room cottage. There was no running water, water had to brought down with a bucket from a water tank at the other end of the camp.A farmer use to deliver milk every two days and the quota was a billy can a family. The Cornelia and the children stayed there for a period of six weeks, they were then taken by the camp organisers to another migrant camp named Matraville, now Cornelia could go and find some work, which she did cleaning the rooms for each person, or two rooms per family, and helped out in the camp canteen. After a few weeks Willem came to Matraville Migrant camp, and now also having employment, they could make plans to get a rental house when the finances were better.
Eventually Cornelia got a job at the local hospital in La Parous, as a laboratory cleaner, life was starting to look brighters. They lived at 16 Mitchel Street, Matraville for a period of five years, before relocating to 9Canterbury Road, Montrose Victoria.
As the years very trying and with Willems mood swings getting worse, he was beating her, and advised again by medical doctors to leave him. So there was a divorce proceedures commenced in early 1970's.
In late 1970's she met a family by the name of Van Vegten, they had a great friendship. Then one night Mrs Van Vegten died of a heart attack and Mr & Mrs Van Vegten got in contact with Cornelia and needed help and support, which Cornelia had great empathy towards people.
