io pb-0 mb-3">;">South Dakota. He attended a rural county school for 8 years. In 1952 he was drafted into the U.S. Army and spent most of his time in the service in Fort Monmouth, New Jersey. After his basic traininghe married Marie Vander Lugt on May 25, 1953. It was a very humid day, lots of rain had fallen and many bridges were out west of Edgerton.
The spring of 1955, they moved to Henry’s father’s farm southwest of Platte. They lived there until the spring of 1971 when they moved to the Edgerton area to farm. Henry definitely was a farmer at heart. In the spring of 1984, they moved into Edgerton.
In July of 2013, Henry became a resident of the Edgebrook Care Center due to Alzheimer’s and finished his life’s journey on May 7, 2014 at the age of 84 years, 10 months and 10 days.
He was always a member of the Christian Reformed Church. He enjoyed going to Men’s Society and Grow Group Bible Study. During his retirement, he enjoyed coffee out withhis friends, playing pinochle, and putting together puzzles. He also spent his time volunteering and working on wheelchairs for Hope Haven.
Henry is survived by his wife of 61 years, Marie of Edgerton, Minnesota; children, Gordon (Jean) of Edgerton, Rose (Dave) Pucci of Grand Rapids, Michigan, Greg (Kay) of New Era, Michigan, and Roxann (Tim) Bossenbroek of Champaign, Illinois; 10 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren and one on the way; one sister, Hermina Oosterkamp of Ripon, California; one brother-in-law, Celice Feenstra of Dickson, Tennessee; brothers- and sisters-in-law, Pete and Lauretta Vander Lugt, and James and Nathalee Vander Lugt both of Edgerton, Alma De Vries of Holland, Michigan, John and Joanne Vander Lugt of Hudsonville, Michigan, and Daryl and Dorothy Baar of Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Jeanette Feenstra; one infant brother; and one brother-in-law, Gerrit Oosterkamp.
