He married (1) Unknown, 1654; married (2) *Elizabeth Cooke, 28 November 1661, at Plymouth, Plymouth Colony, Massachusetts.with the Plymouth colony. The Mayflower passengers included Francis Cook and his son John. The former was born 1577, in England, and was among those who fled to Holland with Pastor Robinson to escape religious persecution. He came from the vicinity of Gainsborough, a place now occupied by iron works, and described by George Eliot in the "Mill on the Floss," under the name of St. Oggs. The history of the parish of Blyth, York, England, shows that Francis Cook came from that parish adjoining Austerfield, in the vicinity of Scrooby, whence came Brewster, Bradford and Robinson. grated to Rhode Island before 1638., Massachusetts, and Tiverton, then a part of the same colony, now in Rhode Island. He had a grant of fifteen acres in Portsmouth in 1656; purchased land in Dartmouth in 1654, and was an inhabitant of Tiverton at the organization of the town, March 2, 1692. ecause Sir Winston Churchill descends from his line, and if the true mother is Elizabeth Cooke, then Sir Winston is a "Mayflower" descendant.
