I have only the following info.:
Robert McChesney (b.1745 in Co. Antrim, Ireland d.1823 in Orange, NJ) and Mary Ann Welch (b.? in Ireland d.1825 in Orange, NJ), who m. eachother 1768 in Co. Antrim, Ireland and immigrated to Canoe Brook, NJ (i.e. Orange, NJ) where they raised 8 children.

Katherine Schultz released a document called "The Descendants of Robert McChesney and Mary Ann Welch of Essex Co, NJ"
You can look at a copy of this by visiting any LDS Family History center and they can order a micro film for you to examin or print a copy. Send me your address and I will send you a copy of this document and what I have.

My husbands great grandfather was Oscar McChesney who lived in Orange New Jersey. He had three sons Ernsest, Melvin and Robert . He was still alive 50 to 60 years ago,and he had a hat shop in the late 1800's in Orange, maybe even two shoppes. I can't find who his parents were does the name Oscar appear any where ? Hi Candace,
I do not have on me any information concerning ALL of the descendants of the many children of Robert and Mary Ann McChesney of Orange/West Orange - only my own descent, but suffice it to say that if your McChesneys were in the Oranges in the late 1800's, then they are no doubt the descendats of this immigrant couple. There are reference books on the "Founders and Builders of the Oranges" (from the late 1800's? and complete with genealogies) in the Morris County Public Library in Whippany (Hanover Twsp.) NJ, and your bound to find your McChesney descent in the Genealogy section of the Morristown Public Library (where census microfilms will help.) Don't forget to also look for Oscar's parents in birth and marriage records kept by the State of NJ in Trenton. You'll probably even find your descent on Ancestry.com Good Luck!

My parents (Charles Henry and Glady's Bristow McChesney) did a lot of work on this history back in the 60's. I am also a direct descendant of Robert and Mary (Welch) McChesney. If I can help anyone let me know, I might have info that you need.
