Benjamin Schichmann was a businessman (importer) was taken out on a ship on the Black Sea with others scheduled to be killed/drowned by the Communists (but he was saved by the intervention of Vladimir Weinberg (a nephew of his wife), who was by then a physician, maybe working for the Communists, but that is quite vague and Vladimir left around that time, too, although Vladimir's brother, who was a lawyer, stayed behind).
They went through a famine in Odessa and Benjamin Schichmann died very suddenly. He was buried in Odessa. After he died, his wife (Rose) and children (Sylvia and Murray) emigrated to the US. Remember too that the Communists confiscated their apartment. It was a very sad memory for his daughter (Sylvia Schulman), as the burial grounds were plowed over by the Communists, as Vladimir told her, since he visited Odessa after WWII.
