Deed records for Cowley County, Kansas show that David bought property and sold it in 1893. (Rocord of Deeds, Cowley County Courthouse, Winfield, Cowley, Kansas.)
Another deed record shows that David and Esther his wife, sold Lot 17 in Block 2 in the City of East Akron on 20 May 1889. The town of Akron was located about 7 miles north of Winfield in Colwey County and no longer exists.
David brought his family to Oklahoma in 1889. He bought homestead rights from a widow whose husband had died suddenly of a heart attack and homesteaded a farm in Logan County near Cresent, Oklahoma. David I. Deffenbaugh came to Lincoln County in his later years. After the death of his wife, Esther Jane Loffer, David retired from farming anf lived off and on with his son, C. D., as well as his 2 other children for 10 years. He had resided continually in the home of his son for almost 2 years before his death 11 May 1927.--from book--Lincoln County Oklahoma History--page #656 found in Lincoln County Museum, Chandler, Oklahoma.
After David's death, he was brought back to Logan County, Oklahoma and buried beside his wife in the Crescent cemetery, located about 1 mile east of Crescent, Oklahoma. Buried next to David and Esther is their granddaughter, Emma Wilma Foster (Sept 23 1908- Sept 29 1915) Daughter of Georgia Bird Deffenbaugh Foster
David is a Civil War Veteran--Co. "K", 90th Ohio Regiment--3 years and 11 months.
