Passes Friday at Gerber Hospital. Funeral Services were Held Tuesday Afternoon at Second Chr. Ref. Church Mrs. Albert Kolk of Newaygo died Friday at the Gerber Memorial hospital where she had been ill for a week. She was taken to the hospital on January 9 and became seriously ill Monday afternoon of last week when complications set in. Mrs. Kolk was 39 years of age.
She was born on a farm south of Brookside July 2, 1902, and was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Meeuwenberg. Mrs. Kolk's father still resides on the farm where she was born. Her mother died about four years ago. Mrs. Kolk attended the Brookside school and was a graduate of Fremont High School. After graduating from the local school, she taught at the Cristian school for a year and then went to Kalamazoo where she followed the teaching profession.
She was married to Albert Kolk in November, 1923. The couple lived at Wolter's fox ranch for a year. In 1925 they purchased the farm a half mile north of Newaygo. Mrs. Kolk was a member of the Second Christian Reformed church of this city and of the Golden Hour Club of the church.
Surviving are her Husband; four children, Harold, Esther, Dorothy and Martin, all at home; three sisters, Mrs. Reka Schroetenboer of Billings, Montana, Marguerite of California and Mrs. Gibert Wyngarden of Holland; six brothers, James and Lawrence of California, Garret of Newaygo, Arthur and John of Fremont, and Vernon in the military service at Newport News, Virginia, and her father, Henry Meeuwenberg of Brookside.
Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon from the home and at two o'clock from the Second Christian Reformed church, with the pastor, Rev. C. Holtrop offriciating. Burial was at the Maple Grove cemetery.
