Notities over Arnoldus Teurlings

Arnoldus was the owner of Molen van Teurlings (1e). It was in Rijen, location RD X 122483 Y 399611 - N 51.584473 - O 4.918030. It was built in 1837, burned down in 1840 due to a thunderstorm. The windmill was for flour and oil. This mill was founded on a plot of pine forest and was given the kadastrale number A475 in 1838.

Dordrechtsche Courant 23 July 1840
"As reported from Breda, in the night between 7 and 8 pm, around 12 o'clock, near the village of Rijen, the wind-flour mill and oil-butcher's shop, belonging to Tuurlings, was completely destroyed by fire. It is believed that the accident was caused by the storm."

Arnoldus Teurlings built a new mill in the Marijkestraat in 1841. This was called Molen van Teurlings (2e). It was in Marijkestraat, Rijen, location RD X 122656 - Y 400059 - N 51.588510 - O 4.920485. This burnt down in 1845. The windmill was for flour, oil, malt and husk.

Gilze and Reijen, 13 July - at about 3 and a half o'clock this morning, the inhabitants were awakened from their sleep by the cry of fire, and it was soon discovered that the wind corn mill of A Teurlings, which had been operating in the vicinity of the camp for a few years now, was burned down. This mill has now been completely reduced to ashes. The fire appears to have started in the roof of the mill, but the cause is as yet unknown. It is said that the mill is insured against fire damage.

's-Hertogenbosch, 14 July - on the 13th the flour mill of A Teurlings, in Gilze and Reijnen, became a prey to the flames for unknown reasons. After a few years, this mill was completely newly built.
