Joseph (Jos) Antonius van der Schoot (Tilburg 1924 ·Äì Oranjestad 2006) wrote reports of, among other things, water polo matches at a young age. They were published in the Tilburgsche Courant. In 1946 he left for Suriname and worked in the insurance business. In 1948 he moved to Curaâßao and then to Aruba, where he worked in insurance, the car industry and for hotels. In addition, Joseph became a correspondent for local newspapers. He also wrote about Tilburgers who lived in Aruba. He was a correspondent, editor-in-chief and director of the daily Amigoe for over fifty years. He was also a representative of the ANP, newsreader at the radio station Voz di Aruba and founder of the Aruba Press Club. Joseph received the Zilveren Legpenning from the municipality of Tilburg for the promotion of his hometown.
