He married Aaltjen Wessels in about 1625, having four children. In 1649 he married Willempie Roelfofse Seubering. His first child was a daughter, Hendrickjen, then Merghin, Coert, Wessel, Aeltje, Albert, Hendrickje, Jan, Jannetje, and Lucas. He arrived in New Amsterdam on the 15th of April, 1660, along with his wife and seven children. In November of 1660 he purchased land from Cornelis Hoogland, in the town of Flatlands, consisting of several acres of land. He died on the 16th of February, 1684 in Flatlands, New York.
