Vanda Van Den Eynde Hey Nelly Van Der Drift - is there anything fron Bill's hometown Delft, i can check out? Take a pic for you? Or did he live out of town. ( we are doing a flying visit right now or i would have asked earlier - sorry.
Rudi Anders Bill lived on a farm
Vanda Van Den Eynde
Vanda Van Den Eynde Yes but around Delft i thought ??
Nelly Van Der Drift Thank you Vanda Van Den Eynde. Yes Delft - he lived in a dairy farm - the cows lived in a shed in winter - I think their was a canal nearby as he sometimes had to bathe in the canal..... I have a pic of the old farm house but that is all. It was some way out of town if I remember correctly - Bill used to say they could hear him coming home on his bike about 5 mikes away. Hoping you are both really enjoying your adventure!!!
Vanda Van Den Eynde Yes indeed Alex Greenwell ÔüòÑ
Rudi Anders
Rudi Anders Too late. Bill had something to do with the dairy. (zuivelbedrijf). Perhaps a photo of that, if it still exists. He slept in school because he got up very early to milk the cows.
Vanda Van Den Eynde
Vanda Van Den Eynde Well there are two relativly close. Have to catch a plane home tonight so probably cant go back this time - i hope to be back and spend more time in Delft which is a lovely place.

Nelly Van Der Drift Address in export book-: 26 / 8 - 52 Rotterdams EWEG 312 DELFT. Think this is the book he had to have stamped to leave to go to Aussie. Monsterboekje (Zeemansboek) R no. 58021 dated Rotterdam 26.08.1952 including his thumb print. Also have his passport and another book when he landed in Aussie - certificate of registration - Commonwealth No. 300684. Arrive in Aussie 15.06.1953 in Melb after Sydney. This is after coming back from the war. Think he had a big fight with his dad who disowned him - didn't want anything more to do with him So sad.
Nelly Van Der Drift Yes that is right Rudi Anders. He wagged school too. Kids can be cruel and gave him a hard time because he smelled (they didn't wash as often as they ) should - me thinks - he had to take a bath in the local canal) and as he worked on a farm... He would rather milk the cows then sell the milk. More fun - a big adventure and he learnt heaps - and he got paid. He had lots of very interesting tales to share of how others lived and how he often caught some of the wives and husband getting into mischief... Not sure if he shared these tales with you Vanda Van Den Eynde but he may have with Robert and Rudi Anders and Wally Anders too. He certainly had an interesting life adventure.
Nelly Van Der Drift Well done Olaf van den Eijnde. Thank you so very much. If I remember correctly - I think 4 siblings (not sure if 3 brothers and a sister) moved to New Zealand too. Bill did go to New Zealand first then to Australia. He decided he like Australia better. I think 1953 or early in 1954. Know he landed in NSW in 1954 then moved to Victoria where he met the family Van Den Eijnde.
Wally Anders (21-10-2017) Bill's brother and Else we a unit for a short time. I don't think he was ready to settle down. Else did better with Herold.
