Ralph Broe Galvin 91, Indianapolis, passed away Wednesday, April 25, 2007 at his
home which he shared with his two daughters, Deborah and Beulah, who were among his
principal care givers in his final days. He was born November 12, 1915 in Cornwall-On-
Hudson, NY to the late Charles B. and Antoinette (Gazzam) Galvin. Ralph was a graduate
of All Hollows, and received his B.A. B.S. from Columbia University in Mechanical
Engineering. He served his country proudly from 1942-1946 as a Lieutenant in the U.S.
Navy during WWII in the Pacific Theater. Ralph retired from Citizens Gas and Coke
Utility plant, where he was Chief Plant Engineer. Ralph was an Elder of Orchard Park
Presbyterian Church. He was a lifelong learner with specialties in celestial mechanics and
navigation, alternative energy sources. Ralph was an inventor. He had broad interests in
science, government, and philosophy. He is survived by his sons, Ralph (wife, Thuy),
Matthew (wife, Meg Gaffney), and Peter (wife, Lucinda Woodward) Galvin; daughters,
Helen (husband, Wenard) Weaver, Virginia Getty Galvin, Antoinette Broe Galvin,
Deborah Clare Galvin, and Beulah Clare Galvin; brother, Ormond Galvin; sister-in-law,
Madeline (widow of Rod) Galvin; 12 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren and two
great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Virginia
(Reppert) Galvin; and brother, Rod Galvin. Visitation will be Sunday, April 29, 2007 from
2 until 5 p.m. at Flanner & Buchanan Funeral Center-Carmel. Interment will be at 9 a.m.
Monday, April 30, 2007 at Our Lady of Peace Cemetery. Funeral services will be 10 a.m.
Monday, April 30, 2007 at Orchard Park Presbyterian Church, where friends are invited to
attend a reception following the service at Noon. Memorial contributions may be made to
either the Wishard Memorial Fund, or Gleaners Food Bank. Funeral Services
