OF A BASKET FOR FUTURE FAMILY MEMBERS TO FIND AND READ.

Humphery Larwill was born in England and was married to Lydia Chilcot,
daughter of Roger Chilcot.
Lydia Chilcot, born at Brampton, Devonshire, England, and was married to
Humphery Larwill.
Joseph Hart of Cambridgeshire, England, born in England.
William Gazzam was born in England and was married to Martha Hart, daughter of
Joseph Hart.
Martha Hart was born in England and married to William Gazzam.
Willliam Chilcot Larwill, son of Humphrey Larwill was born in England, May 8th
1751 and was married to Mary Gazzam, daughter of William Gazzam, March 16,
1782 and died in Wheeling, Virginia, November 12th 1832.
Mary Gazzam was born in England, March 14th 1757 and was married to William
Chilcot Larwill, March 16, 1782 and died in Wooster, Wayne County, Ohio,
March 17, 1827.
The above named William Chilcot Larwill and Mary Gazzam Larwill had the
following children (9 of them in all)
1. Joseph Hart Larwill, born January 12th, 1784, at Chesterton Cambridgeshire,
England, who was married to Nancy Quimby at Warren, Ohio, on May 22, 1817.
2. Julia Robinson Larwill, born Oct. 7, 1785, at the same place as Joseph, and
married to John Fawcett at East Liverpool, Columbiana County, Ohio, May
13, 1813.
3. William Larwill, born Dec. 30, 1787, at bishopgate Street, London, England,
and was married to Susan Christmas at Georgetown, PA., May 23, 1816.
4. Mary Larwill, a twin to Bennoni, born April 13, 1789, died Dec. 20, 1789.
5. Bennoni Larwill, a twin to Mary, born April 13, 1789, died May 10, 1790.
6. Mary (Bowlsworth?) Larwill, born Nov. 5, 1790, at Midway Place, Kent
County, England.
7. John Larwill, born Sept. 27, 1792, at the same place as Mary B., and was
married to Ann Straughn at Saline, Ohio, Jan. 3, 1826.
8. Ebinezar larwill, born May 2, 1795, North 3rd Street, Philadelphia, PA. and
died Nov. 24, 1795 at the same place.
9. Jabez Breckenridge Larwill, born Dec. 2, 1799, at Pittsburg, PA., and who
was married to Amanda Jarrett, Aug. 13, 1829, at Morgantown, Virginia.
William Chilcot larwill and Mary Gazzam his wife with their five children
(then born), Children; Joseph Hart, Julia Robinson, Mary B., And John,
emigrated to the United States of North America in 1793 and settled in
Philadelphia, PA., in Nov. or Dec., 1793 and moved thence to Pittsburg PA.,
Nov. 1797, with all their children then alive, and removed thence to
Columbiana County, Ohio, in 1802, and thence to Wooster, Wayne County, Ohio,
in 1815.
While they visited in Cambridge England, Martha Gazzam gave to her daughter,
Mary Larwill, this basket in 1783 and she brought it with her to the United
States, and previous to her death she gave it to her daughter, Julia Robinson
(Larwill) Fawcett, who about the year 1825, in Wheeling, Virginia, took out
the lining which was much worn and defaced by age and use, and under the
lining found some papers in manuscript which showed the basket to be over 100
years old at that time. She has preserved the basket ever since and on the
13th day of August 1859, gave it to her niece, Julia Larwill Carr, daughter of
her brother, Jabez B. Larwill, and she also gave her the material to reline
the basket, and she Julia Larwill Carr, has quilted the lining and made and
trimmed the same, and now places this memorandum or family history of this
basket under the lining so that those into whose hands it may fall at some
future day may know the age and have some short history of this ancient basket
and now prized family relic. Mrs. Fawcett requests that memorandum be put in
the basket and requests in addition that the following statement to be made,
"that at this date, the 7th day of October, 1859, being her birthday, all of
the children of her father and mother who crossed the sea with them, being
the before named five children who arrived from England in the United States,
as also her brother Jabez B. Larwill (born in U.S.) are still alive and all
residing in the same town, Wooster Ohio, which she deems a very remarkable
circumstance".
So much of the family record as is contained in the above is taken from a
family record in possession of Jabez B. Larwill and this memorandum is written
by him.
