From Descendants of John Blaw (Blue), d. 1757 Somerset County, NJ compiled
by William H. Blue. Michael served in the Revolutionary War
in Captain William Van Brike's company of NJ Militia. He was called up
six times between September 1776 and the fall of 1781. After the war he
moved to Northumberland County, PA , where he first appears in the tax
records of Mahoning Twp. in 1785. In 1787 he was taxed for 289 acres in
Mahoning Twp. Frederick Blue and his father, William Blue, were taxed in
the same county as early as 1778. Michael's pension application in 1832
indicated that he lived about five miles from Danville, PA. Engle (C10)
says he died at Danville. The DAR Roll of Ancestors says he was a private
in Captain Ten Eyck's company, 2nd Batt., Somerset County, NJ Militia.
The Columbia and Montour Counties History says he died in Valley Twp. of
Montour (then Columbia) County. He was a farmer and planted the first
peach orchard in what is now Montour County.
