Mrs. G. Addink, nee Geertje Van Dommelen, 77, Sioux county pioneer died Sunday, July 24, at 7:15 a.m. at the De Bey hospital following a gall-stone operation and complications.
She was born at Fyland, Netherlands on November 12, 1861.
In 1866 she came to America with her parents and one sister, Katie. The family located at Holland, Mich, where they lived for 10 years, then they came to Iowa.
On March 18, 1881 she was married to Gerrit Addink. The couple lived for one year on a farm east of Sioux Center, then moved to a farm southwest of Orange City where they lived for 25 years. Later they bought a farm one mile west of Alton. In 1917 they retired and moved to Orange City.
Mr Addink died in 1926.
She is survived by one daughter, Adriana, Mrs. Albert Grevenhof. Her sister, Katie, Mrs. M. Punt died October 21, 1937.
Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at 1 o'clock at the A. Grevenhof home and at 1:30 at the First Reformed church with Rev. Mr. H. Colenbrander officiating. Interment was made in the Orange City cemetery.
