Richard V. Peetoom of Port Orange, FL, went
to be with the Lord March 9, 2013 at the age of 69. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather who cherished life and excelled in everything. A man of honor and integrity, Richard was well-respected and lovedby all who had the pleasure of knowing him. His kind, gentle and fun-loving spirit will be deeply missed. Richard was born in Woodward, OK, agraduate of Blackwell High School, Oklahoma
State University and Central State University, where he earned his Master's degree. He was a member of Gamma Delta Sigma Chi, the OklahomaCity Sigma Chi alumni chapter, and served on the Gamma Delta House Corporation. He was a LifeLoyal Sigma Chi. After college, he entered the US Navy as a student Naval aviator. He received his Wings of Gold and continued as an instructor pilot, leaving in 1973. Richard had a successful and lauded career in the banking industry that spanned his lifetime.He held several roles, including president of People's Bank in Bethany, OK, and most recently, regional lending specialist with the National Credit Union Administration. He is survived by his loving wife, Marilyn Peetoom of Port Orange, FL; children Trent (Erin) Peetoom of Rogers, Arkansas, Austin (Karen) Peetoom of Orlando, FL, Lauren Peetoom of Orlando, FL, Kimberley Cochran of Orlando, FL, and Crissy (Bill) Marchesi of Maui, Hawaii; grandchildren Joshua and Jacob Peetoom, Zander Peetoom, and Sophia and Grace Marchesi; and a brother Robert (Cathy) Peetoom, of Blackwell, OK. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clifford and Erma Peetoom, wife Ann Peetoom, and brother Rodger Peetoom. Funeral services will be held March 14, 2013 at 11:30 a.m. in Quinn-Shalz Funeral Home, Jacksonville Beach, FL. Burial will take place in JacksonvilleNational Cemetery with military honors. Later, there will be a flyoverutilizing the missing man formation. A memorial service celebrating his life will be April 6, 2013 at 11 a.m. at Church of the Servant, 14343N. MacArthur, Oklahoma City, OK. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Richard's name to the American Lung Association, 11212 N. May Ave., Ste. 405, Oklahoma City, OK 73120.
