{{Uncertain Family''Henri de la Rieux (or de la Rue) is rumoured to be the alleged out-of-wedlock issue of François I de Valois, King of France, and Daughter de la Rieux (or de la Rue). But the validity of François I as his father is under fire, asFrançois would have been 8 years old at the time of Henri's birth.'''Quote from [http://woodswarrenfamily.weebly.com/larue.html The Woods/Warren Family]See posts and this [https://www.wikitree.com/g2g/204438/who-was-henry-de-la-rieux-1502-1570- G2G; Who was Henry de la Rieux ?]
The mother of Henry is purportedly 'Dau de la Rieux' a young woman at the court of Francis I. There was a young Mademoiselle des Rieux at the court of Francis I. She is briefly mentioned, along with other ladies, by Barthélemy Haureau, with a shortpoem written by Clément Marot[https://babel.hathitrust.org/cgi/pt?id=mdp.39015015382727;seq=146 Francois I, page 136] François Ier et sa cour, par Barthélemy Hauréau (1515-1547) Main Author: Hauréau, B. 1812-1896. Language(s): French Published: Paris, L. Hachette et cie, 1855. Edition: Nouvelle édition, revue et augmentée.. However, it seems unlikely she was the mother of Henri. He was born in 1502 at the latest, and Francis did not become king until 1515 - by this time, the mother of a 13 year old would no longer have been the comely girl described by Marot.
Louis XII would have made a more plausible fatherBea Wijma, April 2017, but again this would not be consistent with the mother of the child being at court after 1515[[Rassinot-1|Isabelle Rassinot]], October 14, 2018.
Here is the full extent of Barthélémy Hauréau's mention of Mademoiselle de Rieux (she is mentioned among the Demoiselles d'honneur):
