Pieter Coeymans might be the origin of the New Netherland branch of the family which founded Coeymans town, NY, USA
In 1612 he seems to be associated with the the Pickers widow (Margaretha Van der Bruggen, widow of Thibout de Pickere), selling line for Morroco (Les sources inâedites des l'histoire du Maroc - comptes de Pieter Maertensz. Coy)
Van der Bruggen and Coeymans were coussins.
And on the other hand, Thibout de Pickere's sister, Isabella, was married with Balthasar 1 Coymans.
There for I believe Pieter Coeymans was a brother or a nephew of Balthasar and logicaly, his son would take part in the opportunities offered by the WIC, ( in that case starting as an apprentice and later having his own "patroonship" in New Netherland). He might not be a child of Balthasar, since he is not mentionned as one of his heirs.
