Salmon is a person in the Hebrew Bible. An alternate form is Salma.

He is the son of Nachson, and married with Rahab, by whom he had Boaz. Salmon is mentioned in 1 Chronicles 2:11,51,54; Ruth 4:20,21; Matthew 1:4.

He is named "the father of Bethlehem". That is, his descendants peopled Bethlehem, or he greatly improved and adorned it, or he was the chief man, by office; the Abyssinian shum of a town
