The Red Book of the Exchequer records "Willelmus Bruere" holding (unspecified) knights’ fees "Burbeche" in Wiltshire, and land "Stokes et Siteleshangre quæ fuerunt Gerardi de Mauqu[eney]" in Northamptonshire, in [1210/12][1978]. Matthew Paris names “...Willelmus Briwere...” among the "consiliarios iniquissimos” of King John[1979].
