LifeSketch: There is lots of confusion re this William Wimble, many family trees have him born in 1611. If Ann Agnes French b 1598 is his Mother she would have been 13 in 1611. Ann Agnes French is recorded as marrying a William Wimble in 1622 and there is a William Wimble recorded born 1625 parents William and Ann. Seems more credible.
Ashburnham Family Archives: Ashburnham family archives in 1664 list William Wimble yeoman of Ashburnham and wife Alice, James Wimble founder of Waldron and wife Mary in relation to land in Catsfield and Ashburnham
Archive record of land in Catsfield: Catsfield dated 21 May 1649 stated that William Wimble of Ashburnham yeoman the eldest son of William Wimble late of Ashburnham founder got land from the will of William the elder that had been purchased from Richard Apse of Speldhurst, Kent yeoman and James Wimble founder of Warbleton but now of Waldron and from Edward Bromefeld esxquire now or late Alderman of the City of London and his wife Margaret and son John Bromefled and wife Joyce, Thomas Williams and wife Ann citizen and Leather seller of London. In 1634 William Wimble yeoman of Dallington had land in Catsfield and Ashburnham. In 1637 he was described as an ironfounder in Dallington while James Wimble was a founder now in Waldron.
Archive record: archives dated 10 Oct 1642 stated that William Wimble is the eldest son of William wimble deceased, founder late of Ashburnham who in his will bequested to the children of William (the father) Anne, Jone, Dorothy and Bridget. Apparently James Wimble was listed in or involved in the will
He father William died in leaving a will in order to fulfill the bequests in the will the following was recorded: William left his land in Ashburnham to his eldest son William. James Wimble and Richard Apps transferred their interests in some land to William Wimble junior. One of the deeds signed in Oct 1642 says they were doing so to enable William to raise Money to pay his sisters Anne, Joan, Dorothy and Bridgett the portions due them from their father's will. William's sister Elizabeth, then 18, had married William Eston of Ninfield on 7 June of that year and presumably had already received her marriage portion
land record from Paul Collins book regarding the Wimbles living in Crowhurst: in 1664 William Wimble bought Pyes farm in Crowhurst and moved there with his wife Alice, daughter Ann (1651) and sons William (1653), John (1656) and James (probably born about 1661). He then stated that the year after the move Alice gave birth to a son Jeremiah who was baptized 22 July 1665 (I did not have this son or James). It stated that his mother was buried the same day Jeremiah died when he was 2 weeks old
Huwelijk: In his marriage to Mary Tisehurst per the liscense she is a widow of Ashburnham and he is a widower of Hollington Sussex
WILL: He left a will (Lewes Arch book A33 pg 101) as a yeoman of Crowhurst written 24 May and 4 July 1673. He mentions his wife Mary. His brother is John Wimble and his siister married William Easton. His brother in law was Jeremy Read of Hailsham who had owed him some money. His sons were William (elder), John (second) and James (younger) and at least the last two were listed as being younger than 21 years of age. His daughter Anne married John Crampe and they had a son William who was younger than 21 years of age.Witnesses are John Reede, John Wimble and John Purfield
