FLAMM, Mr. Carl M.
Died Saturday evening, April 22, 2006 at the Laurels of Galesburg. Carl was born September 22, 1929 in Kalamazoo, MI, the son of John and Elsie (Hill) Flamm and was a lifelong resident of the Kalamazoo area. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict and was honorably discharged in 1954. For several years he owned and operated the Parchment Marathon Service Station and later worked for 25 years as Superintendent of Public Works for the City of Parchment. He was a member of the Immanuel Fellowship Church where he had served as Elder and Deacon. On June 30, 1967 he was married to Berdine "Bea" (Sportel) Flamm, who survives. Also surviving are 3 daughters and 2 sons, Cynthia Ropp of Oshtemo, Douglas (Christine) Flamm of Mattawan, Cheryl Flamm of Parchment, Brenda (Steven) Long of Plainwell and Brian (Ronda) White of Kalamazoo; 6 grandchildren, Brandon, April, Tyler and Sara White, Michelle (Manferd) Bengsch and Sara Flamm; a great-granddaughter Ashley; 2 brothers, Glenn (Phyllis) Flamm and Clarence Flamm, all of Parchment; nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by 2 sisters, Lillian and Hilda and by a brother John. Services will be held on Wednesday at 11 am at the Immanuel Fellowship Church, 6015 West "H" Ave. with the Rev. Dr. Harry Arnold officiating. A luncheon will be held at the church followed by interment with military honors by the Comstock V.F.W. Post and the U.S. Army in the Chapel at Mt. Ever-Rest Cemetery. Friends may meet the family on Tuesday from 4-8 pm at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Westside Chapel, 3926 S. 9th St. Memorial contributions in Carl's memory may be made to the Immanuel Fellowship Church Building Fund or Son-Life Camps.
