From Halifax they travelled by train via Quebec City to Winnipeg, Manitoba where they arrived on the 16 Apr 1906.

Hendrik (Harry) Esveld and Adriana Kooijman emigrated with the Kooijman family to the Winnepeg area in 1906. The Kooijmans started a farm in East Kildonan.
Harry and Adriana were married in Winnipeg 19th of December 1906 (she was 7 month pregnant) and moved to a house in Winnipeg. Harry was a painter for the Cresent Creamery Company in Winnipeg. In early 1907 their daughter Hendrika Johanna (Anne) was born. Anne was named after her paternal grandmother.
In 1910 Hendrik made a trip back to Holland to visit his parents, he returned on the vessel "Corsican" and landed in Halifax on 1-Apr-1910.
In 1913 Adriana and her daughter Anne made a trip to Holland to visit family. Adriana and Anne returned via New York (Ellis Island), landed on 22-Jun-1913, arriving on the vessel "Rotterdam", and travelled by train from New York via Chichago to Winnipeg.
In late 1917 Harry fell. The family moved him to the Kooyman farm in Kildonan in October were he died of the flu in November 1918 (Anne was 11 years old when her father died).
