Nicholas was born in 1802. Nicholas Nooijen ... He passed away in 1882. He is buried at St. Joseph Cemetery, Appleton, Wisconsin. [1] NOTE from Nooyen Family chart: Nicholas was a merchant in Gemert. In March, 1850 Nicholas, Maria, and their six children boarded the Ship Fuskina (listed in some sources as the Ship Triskina) in Rotterdam to set sail for a new life in faraway America. On May 25th they arrived at the Port of New York, from where they traveled by train and boat through the GreatLakes to the new State of Wisconsin. They arrived at the southern tip of Green Bay, a part of Lake Michigan, where they purchased land and established their farms.

Information for the descendants of Nikolaas Nooijen (1902-1882) and Johanna Maria Maas (1797-1855), who were born and married in Noord-Brabant, Netherlands. In May 1850, with their 6 living children (they lost 2 kids as infants.) in tow, they boarded the "Tuskina" at Rotterdam, Zuid-Holland, Netherlands and sailed to the U.S., settling in Bay Settlement, Brown Co., Wisconsin. Each of the 6 children married (at least once), and had children. The children were:

2. Henricus "Henry" Nooyen (1827-1901)
3. Wilhelmus "Wilhelm" Nooijen (1830-1832) **Died as Young Child in Netherlands
4. Wilhelmena Mary "Minnie" Nooyen (1832-????)

6. Leonardus "Leonard" Nooyen (1836-1901)
7. Hendricka Nooijen (1842-1842) **Died as Infant
8. Heinricka Nooyen (1843-1909)** There were two daughters, with the same given name. This was common practice in the 19th century.
Arrived in New York on 25 May 1850 aboard the Triskina, sailing from Rotterdam, Netherlands.
1855 Wisconsin State Census lists him as Nicol Noogen living in Green Bay Township, Brown County, Wisconsin.
1880 Census shows him as age 78 living at 225 North Street, Appleton, Outagamie, WI with daughter Henricka and son-in-law Arnold Vande Hei. His occupation is listed as retired laborer.
He passed away in 1882. He is buried at St. Joseph Cemetery, Appleton, Wisconsin. No grave marker in St. Joseph's Cemetery, burial was recorded in church documentation.
