GRASSMID God surely took to Himself, His faithful servant, Robert Sidney Grassmid, on Friday, July 23, 2010.Bob, age 87, of Grand Rapids, leaves behind and will be deeply missed by his wife of 64 years, Sue; his children, Judson Grassmid, Barbara and Michael Lautenbach, Tom and Jan Grassmid; grandchildren, Chris and Amy Lautenbach (Leland and Myka), Kenton and Vicki Grassmid (Harrison, Alexa, and Danica), Joel Lautenbach, Delton and Tabitha Grassmid, Grant Grassmid, Kyle Grassmid, Tami Grassmid; sister and brother-in-law, Donna and Jay Lubbers; sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, Grace Pals, Char and Jim Schipper; and many loving nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his son Scott Grassmid in 1974, and by his granddaughter, Jennifer Grassmid in 1982. After retirement, Bob gave many hours repairing and maintaining wheelchairs for Raybrook Manors 3rdand 4thfloors. Bob and his wife Sue were blessed to spend 22 years volunteering for Disaster Response Services of the Christian Reformed Church.Those were the best years of Bobs life; until his service ended unexpectedly Friday evening. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, 11:00 am at Covenant CRC with Rev. Curt Walters and Rev. Calvin VanderMeyden officiating. The family will greet friends and relatives Sunday evening from 7-9 pm and Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm at the Zaagman Memorial Chapel. Interment will be at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. Memorial contributions may be made to Disaster Response Services of the Christian Reformed World Relief.
