Jacklyn Ruth Van Opynen, age 66, of Spring Lake passed away Saturday, December 3, 2011, at a local hospital. She was born April 12, 1945 in Grand Haven to Elmer and Mildred (Cooper) Reenders. Jacklyn was married to Richard “Dick” Van Opynen on April 17, 2010.
Jacklyn was a lifelong resident of the Tri-Cities and had worked in various jobs as a beautician, real estate agent, chef at the Bil-Mar, and retired as a floral designer. She enjoyed making jewelry, loved going to garage sales, playing cards, watercolors and oil paintings of animals and landscapes.
Survivors include her loving husband, Richard; two sons, Michael James (Katrina) Robinson of Spring Lake and their two children, Wesley J. Robinson and Shelbie Robinson, Matthew John (Tammy) Robinson of Grand Haven and their four children: Matthew Robinson Jr., Melanie Robinson, Joel Robinson, and Jaxson Robinson; two sisters, Janet (Jacob) Achterhof of Grand Haven, JoAnn Reenders of Grand Haven; and several loving nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and her first husband, Bruce W. Robinson.
A time of gathering will be held 4-6 PM Saturday, December 10, 2011, in the Escanaba Room at the Grand Haven Community Center. Interment will be in Spring Lake Cemetery. Memorial contributions in memory of Jacklyn may be given to The American Heart Association, The Salvation Army, or Love INC.
