Albert Miller, 89, of Sterling, died Oct. 16, 2004, in Sterling. Visitation is Oct. 19 from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. at Tennant Funeral Home. Funeral services are Gct. 20 at 10 a.m. at Peace Lutheran Church, with Rev. Gene Zeller officiating. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery.
Mr. Miller was born July 29, 1915, in Iliff, to Emmanuel and Pauline (Dermer) Miller.
He grew up on his father's farm and worked with him until 1942, when he started his own farming and ranching business. He married Ethel Mae Nicklas on Sept. 28, 1942, in McCook, Neb. He attended schools In Atwood, and graduated from Sterling public schools.
Mr. Miller volunteered for the Air Force as a pilot, but was classified 4-F, so he was not inducted into the military. After he was married, the. family moved to San Diego, where he spent many months working for the B-24 consolidated airplane plant, making aircraft for the After finishing his jobS there, the family returned to Sterling, settling in the old home owned by the Hunker family.
He was- a member of the American Quarter Horse Association, a lifetime member of the Elks Lodge No. 1336, the American Legion, the Sterling
Country Club and Peace Lutheran Church.
He is survived by son Shane Miller; sister Pauline Chance, Denver; grandchildren Emmanuel, Liana and Nakani Miller; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife on Dec. 11, 1990.
