JOHN MARVIN YONKMAN
- passed away peacefully, at home in Redwood City, May 26, 2006 at the age of 69 years.
Loving husband of Joan McKay-Yonkman of Redwood City. Cherished father of Julie (Tom) Parlin of Redmond, OR, Terri Bourne of Lake Oswego, OR, Brian Yonkman of Lake Oswego, OR, Christine (William) Busch of Hurricane, UT, Nicole McKay of San Carlos, Jana Biladeau of Kona, ID and the late Geoffery Yonkman. Dear brother of George (Isabel) Yonkman of Prescott, AZ and the late William (Marlene) Yonkman. Devoted “Grandpa John” to 15 dear grandchildren. Dear cousin of Linda (Tony) Van Beek of Colorado. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.
John was born December 5, 1936 in Los Angeles. He was a resident of Redwood City for 41 years. He served his country proudly in the U.S. Navy stationed aboard the submarine, U.S.S. Catfish. He was a tiller man and retired after 25 years with the Redwood City Fire Department. John loved to tinker away in his workshop or whip up a new recipe in the kitchen. He enjoyed fishing and towing his fifth wheel and boat to many of our country’s lakes with his family.
Friends are invited to attend a memorial service on Saturday, June 3, 2006 at 1:00 PM at Crippen & Flynn Woodside Chapel, 400 Woodside Road, Redwood City.
