JOHANNA HOPMAN

ESTERO, Fla. -- Johanna Hopman, 86, of Estero, formerly of Elkhart, died in her home on Tuesday (March 21, 2000).
She was born in the Netherlands on Dec. 23, 1913, the daughter of Matthew and Maria (VanDriel) Bijl, and married Anthony P. Hopman on April 16, 1940. He died in 1995.
Mrs. Hopman is survived by two sons, Matthew N. (Alana) of Greensboro, N.C., and Anthony P. Jr. (Ruth) of Lakeland, Fla.; two daughters, Mrs. Harry (Trudi) McCollum of Fort Myers and Johanna C. Hopman of Goshen; nine grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; a brother, Niek (Iet) Bijl of the Netherlands; two sisters, Trien Dekker and Ida De Jong, both of the Netherlands; and her brother-in-law and caregiver, Martin A. Hopman of Estero.
A son, Pete M. Hopman, died in 1977.
The family will receive friends one hour before the 11 a.m. Thursday service at Shikany's Bonita Funeral Home in Bonita Springs, Fla. Burial will be at Naples Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Hopman and her late husband formerly owned Hopman Brothers Picture Framing in Elkhart. She moved to Florida in 1981 and was a member of Our Lady of Light Catholic Church.
