  Shirley Jean Bol, age 84, of Grand Haven, passed away September 6, 2013, at home. She was born on February 8, 1929 in Coopersville, MI to John and Alys (Barrett) Stoddard. Shirley married James Bol on February 18, 1948. He preceded her in death on August 7, 2002 after 54 ½ years of marriage. She worked as a welder at General Electric’s Holland plant for 11 years and for Pfaff’s Pharmacy for 13 years. Shirley was a lifelong member of Second Christian Reformed Church. She loved spending time with her family and dogs. She enjoyed bowling, crossword puzzles, quilting and working in her flower and vegetable gardens. Shirley was a beloved mother and grandmother and is survived by her loving family, daughter, Terri (Terry) Draeger of Fruitport; sons, James Bol and Richard (Karen) Bol all of Grand Haven; grandchildren, Brian and 2d Lt. Zachary Draeger and Nathan and Nicholas Bol; nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her mother, her infant son Douglas, first born grandchild, Eric Lee Bol, granddaughter, Stephanie Bol, sisters, Arlene Ellis and Betty Stoddard. The funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Sunday, October 13, 2013 at Second Christian Reformed Church with Rev. Michael Koetje officiating. Interment will be at Lake Forest Cemetery. Friends are invited to greet the family 1 hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, American Cancer Society, Hospice of North Ottawa Community or Second Christian Reformed Church Building Fund.
