  Hermanus Marcus Vlaar, husband of Janice E. Vlaar, of Princess Street, Miramichi, passed away at the Miramichi Regional Hospital, on Friday, July 15, 2011, at the age of 71.
  
  Born in North Beemster, North Holland, on April 25, 1940, he was the son of the late Pieter and Corniela (Van Wonderen) Vlaar. He was a truck driver by profession and an adherent of St. Andrews United Church, Miramichi.
  
  He is survived by his wife, the former Janice E. Currie; one son, Marcus Vlaar (Sharon), of Chestermere, AB; one daughter, Jillian Macosky (Troy), of Miramichi; four grandchildren, Jordyn, Aiden, Jade, Cole; his mother in law, Ida Currie; one sister, Anne Boots Vlaar, of Holland; four brothers, Dirk Vlaar (Corry), of Sprucegrove, AB, Arie Vlaar (Willy) Lau Vlaar, Piet Vlaar (Jos), all of Holland; two sisters in law, Riet Vlaar, and Clazina Vlaar, both of Holland; one brother in law, Siem Dekkeer; as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two sisters, Maria Neijging and Jans Dekker; two brothers, Joop and Jan Vlaar.
  
  Visitation was at Adams Funeral Home Ltd., 140 King St., on Wednesday. Funeral service was held from St. Andrews United Church, Wellington St., Miramichi, on Thursday, July 21, 2011, at 2 pm, conducted by Wendell Gregan. Music for the service was provided by Jacqueline Allain and the organist and choir of St. Andrews United Church. Hymns were "Here I Am Lord", "The Lords' Prayer" and "Ave Maria". The eulogy was given by brother in law, Robert Currie.
  
  Honorary pallbearers were Harry Gallant, William Smith, Gordon Rouse, Richard Miller, John & Barb McLaughlin. Interment was in Moorefield Cemetery, Miramichi.
  
  As expressions of sympathy, donations to any charity of the donors' choice, would be appreciated by the family.
