Notities over Henry James Wilson Sherren

Henry went into the printing business with his father for a short while, then left home and moved to the London area where it is believed that he embarked on a literary career. It is thought that he may have had a disagreement with his father and this is why he left the business and the town of Weymouth. It has also been reported that he later changed the spelling of his name to "Scherren" In 1881 census return, Henry was described as a journalist and was lodging with a watchmaker in Islington.

In 1861 he was a boarder at 12 Lambe Terrance Hackney, working as a compositor (printer), then in the spring of 1867, he married Emma Pricilla Scattergood in Clifton, Bristol. In February 1876 Henry's mother, Mary, made her will, having become a widow eighteen months earlier. In this will Henry is mentioned only in these words:"and I hope that the said John Angel Sherren, George Frederick Sherren and Mary Elizabeth Cole will in their discretion, did aid my son Henry James Wilson Sherren to such an extent as they, or the majority of them, shall think proper and desirable". It is known in the family that Henry became a Roman Catholic, so Mary, being a staunch Methodist, cut him out of her will for this reason. In 1891, in Hornsey, he was described as 'editor and author', in 1901, in Haringey, as a journalist again; he and Anna had no children. Henry died on 25 April 1911 at Cavendish Road in Haringey;
