In 1861 and 1871 he was with his aunt by marriage, Barbara Sherren (widow of James) in Wareham. In 1881 he was at Lower Bockhamton, Sinsford age 40, unmarried and a farmer with 1000 acres employing 22 men, and 10 boys. During the next 10 years, he moved to Middle Farm, Fordington, he was still at that address in 1901 and died there aged 62, on 14 October 1902 and buried in Whitcombe on 17 October 1902.
He made a will in January 1893 in which he mentioned land and a house at Broadmayne occupied by J. Christopher and mortgaged to John L. Drew of Wareham for the sum of 2800 pounds. John Drew was paid in full and the residue together with the sale of shares was converted to cash. That was divided between Jessie Wright and Alice Wright except for the following items;" reversion of pew rents to the church (at St Mary's, Weymouth); to Harry Wheeler of Weymouth, a friend,"a watch which was my father's with J. Sherren marked on the back; to my cousin Henry Wright of The Firs, Loughton, Essex 100 pounds plus a gold watch; to my cousin Charles Henry Warne of Standish Park, Stoneham, Gloucestershire, 100 pounds plus a silver hunter watch; and my cousin Louisa Ware of Chudleleigh Villa, Weymouth 100 pounds." His executors were John Drew of Wareham and Henry and Alice Wright. The probate was granted on 17 January 1903 to William Henry Wright, gentleman and Alice Wright, spinster.
