Lt. Samuel was very active in Simsbury, moving there about 1669 with his father Michael from Windsor. At that time Simsbury was called New Village Massacoe. His older brother, John (6 years difference) & he saw the Indian uprisings and the burning of Simsbury in 1676, when the family returned with others temporarily to Windsor.
They returned in 1677 when Samuel was 21. Soon he & others built a church, became members, was Justice of the Peace, representative in the Assembly in 1702 & later, was comissioned a Lietuenant in 1709. He held many local city government positions from 1685 to 1715 & engaged in hte copper mining business among others. He owned many tracts of land, by purchase, grants from the town, & deeds inherited from his father, Michael.
