He arrived in the US a year after Nathan in April of 1856 and his ship record states that his destination is Boston. he is a resident of San Luis Obispo in the 1860 census. He lived with his brother Nathan and two others, Morris Cohen and Bernard Baer. he is a resident of San Luis Obispo in the 1860 census. It is not clear what type of business Isaac was pursuing in Dresden during the early 1890’s. They probably moved to Hamburg around 1895. Isaac was listed as proprietor of the import/ export company Goldtree & Liebes together with his brother Morris between 1896 until his death in 1912.
Isaac Goldtree acquired in 1893 a subdivision in San Luis Obispo called Goldtree Vineyard Tract. As it happens, quite a few streets have names match the Goldtree family – Flora (Isaac’s wife), Augusta (Nathan’s wife), Helena (Morris’ wife). There is evidence that this is the site of Chromium mining https://thediggings.com/mines/usgs10214015 .
Isaac Goldtree was also quite successful in the banking business. He was listed in a newspaper article from December 23rd, 1887 as Vice-President of the Bank of Paso Robles: “J. H. Blackburn, President; I. Goldtree, Vice-President; D. Speyer, Cashier; R. E. Jack, manager – Bank of Paso Robles Transacts a General Banking Business” (
In the same year, Isaac Goldtree was also a partner in the Farmers Bank and Trust Company – San Luis Obispo (14 p. 503) and a manager of the Jack, Goldtree & CO. bank of San Luis Obispo, a bank that became later part on the 1st Nation Bank (14 p. 438). Isaac stayed on as Cashier of 1st Nation Bank until June of 1889.
