Moritz Nadelmann was a lawyer and was listed in the 1939 Berlin address book as "Justizrat". The Nadelmanns had a fortune which, according to their own information, amounted to 26,696 Reichsmarks and mortgages on two properties in Ahlbeck on Usedom and in Muencheberg in Brandenburg.
Because they were Jews, they first had to move to XantenerStr. 2. There they were able to take some furniture and household goods from BregenzerStr. , where they had been registered as tenants until 1942.
On 29 January 1943, both were deported from Anhalter Bahnhof to the Theresienstadt ghetto in a locked passenger car on the scheduled train bound for Dresden-Prague with 100 people. Moritz Nadelmann was killed there on 5 March 1943. The cause of death given in the death certificate (http://www.holocaust.cz/de/datenban...) was a "heart attack".
the flat at 9 Bregenzer Str., together with its furnishings, the value of which was officially estimated at RM 1,139, was "preferentially assigned" to the envoy of the Iraqi embassy, Kamil el Gailani.
Descendants of the Nadelmanns are the granddaughter Sue and the great-grandson Joshua Raymond in Great Britain. It was possible to make contact with them
